I was curious, so I looked around online to see what other writers get for words per day. It’s never going to be an exact formula, and will vary from writer to writer, but I was looking for a ballpark figure. Most said 500-1000. Stephen King said about 2000.
I get around 3000 on a full day of writing. They aren’t always of the highest quality, but that is what editing is for. I recently had a great day of what I think was quality writing that was at around 5000 words. I wish I could say that made me a stellar writer, but I do not subscribe to the theory that quantity has a quality all its own. Still, I do like the flow!
